Guatemala Tours for Senior and Retired Travelers

MJ AND FRIENDS hosts small-group cultural journeys through Guatemala for senior travelers, retired travelers and travelers over 60 from Canada and the United States. Every day is planned at a comfortable pace, with private transportation, carefully selected accommodations, local cuisine and a host beside you from arrival to departure.

What makes a tour senior-friendly

A senior-friendly journey is not a shorter journey — it is a better organized one. We limit group size, keep travel days short, choose accommodations close to the places we visit, and build in time to rest between experiences.

  • Small groups, so nobody is rushed or left behind
  • Private transportation between every destination
  • Bilingual hosts and guides in English and Spanish
  • Comfortable, centrally located accommodations
  • Unhurried daily schedules with time to rest
  • Assistance with logistics, luggage and daily questions

Where the journey takes you

The main experience combines Guatemala City, colonial Antigua Guatemala and Lake Atitlán, with cultural visits, local cuisine and highland scenery along the way. Travelers who want to add the ancient Maya city of Tikal can do so through our VIP Extension to Petén.

Antigua Guatemala

A UNESCO World Heritage city of cobblestone streets, colonial courtyards and volcano views, walkable and easy to enjoy at your own rhythm.

Lake Atitlán

A volcanic lake surrounded by Maya villages, reached by private transport and explored by comfortable boat crossings.

Tikal and Petén

Temple pyramids rising above the rainforest canopy, available as an optional extension for travelers who want to go deeper into Maya history.

Traveling from Canada and the United States

Guatemala City is served by direct and single-connection flights from many Canadian and U.S. cities, which makes the trip an approachable introduction to Central America. Once you land, we take care of ground logistics so the rest of your journey is simply about experiencing the country.

Our team can answer questions about arrival times, documentation, packing and pacing before you book. Travel insurance is required for every traveler, and we are glad to explain what to look for in a policy.
